It is the most common type of vitiligo, presented by one or more depigmented skin areas (lesions) clearly visible on the surface of the skin or mucous membranes at any time during life. More often it occurs in young children.

Focal vitiligo usually responds well to topical treatment. If treatment is introduced at its early stages, improvement is significant even within the first two months, especially in children.
